Pepperoni pizza

31

America's most-ordered pizza, made honestly at home: the same yeasted base under tomato, mozzarella and cupping pepperoni. Now with the number the delivery box never carries.

Both directions are legitimate — the score measures fullness per calorie, not virtue. Every version is the same dish, rebalanced.

Ingredients

Dough

Topping

Every ingredient links to its food page — same data, same score, same formula.

Steps

  1. Make and rise the dough as for the plain pizza: yeast in lukewarm water, then flour, oil and salt; knead 8 minutes, rise 90.
  2. Preheat the oven and a steel or heavy tray at 250–275°C for 45 minutes.
  3. Stretch by hand, sauce thinly, cheese, then the pepperoni — small thick-cut slices cup and crisp; wide thin ones lie flat and go greasy.
  4. Bake 8–12 minutes until blistered. Blot the pepperoni pools if you like; that's fat you chose not to eat.

How scores work

Computed on the finished dish, not an average of the parts: 2337 kcal goes into the pot, 1018 g of ingredients comes out as ~1000 g of food → 234 kcal per 100 g. Cooking moves water, and energy density is the score's biggest lever — so we show the math. Full formula here.

Percentages are the share of calories from each macronutrient.

Computed from the ingredients' USDA data — nothing typed by hand. Every number is traceable, every score recomputable.
