Hot honey beef & sweet potato bowl

69

The bowl that took over 2025, and for good reason: seasoned beef, roasted sweet potato, and cool cottage cheese cover protein, volume, and comfort in one dish — with a measured drizzle of hot honey doing a lot of flavor work for very few calories.

Steps

  1. Heat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Toss the sweet potato cubes with the olive oil and a pinch of the salt on a baking sheet. Roast 25–30 minutes, turning once, until browned at the edges.
  2. Meanwhile, brown the ground beef in a dry skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, 6–8 minutes. Season with paprika, cumin, garlic powder, and the remaining salt and pepper.
  3. Make the hot honey: warm the honey with the red pepper flakes for 30 seconds (microwave or in a small pan) and let it sit while everything finishes.
  4. Build the bowls: sweet potato, beef, a scoop of cottage cheese, and the avocado. Drizzle the hot honey over the top.

Cottage cheese in a hot bowl?

Yes — it turns half-melted and creamy against the warm beef, which is most of why this recipe went viral. Full-fat holds up best.

Can I make it leaner?

Swap to 93% lean beef and the score climbs a little; the bowl stays satisfying because the protein and potato do the filling work, not the fat.
